Asia jumps out 3-1 against Europe

Team Asia jumped out to a 3-1 advantage over Team Europe in the Friday Foursomes of the 7th edition of the Royal Trophy.

Asia won the first three matches at Dragon Lake Golf Club in Guangzhou, China headlined by Thongchai Jaidee and Kiradech Aphibarnrat winning the opening match 5  & 3. Jaidee, at No. 46 in the Official World Golf Ranking, is the highest ranked player in the field. He also finished 9th in the European Tour’s Race To Dubai Standings in 2013.

Y.E. Yang, the 2009 PGA Championship victor, is the captain of Team Asia, while two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal leads the Europeans.

David Howell and Marc Warren managed Europe’s only victory — a 2 & 1 triumph against Wen-Chong Liang and Ashun Wu.
