Grip Solid Training Aid

Winner of the Best New Product award at the 2011 PGA Expo in Las Best New Product award winner at 2011 PGA Show in Las VegasVegas, the Grip Solid training aid could help grow the game — a buzz word throughout the industry.

One of the main problems hindering golf’s expansion is frustration. Golf is a difficult game. Products like the Grip Solid Training Aid can train beginners and improve their game and thus their enjoyment of the game. Plus, it’s a great training tool for experienced players, who have let bad habits creep into their club gripping.

The product is a thin-rubber strap with a raised flexible bar (the Flex-Bar). It attaches to a player’s golf glove and guides the club into perfect position. Sometimes players either hold the club too far in the hand or too far in the fingers – either way can lead to increase grip pressure and cause swing issue.

Made of soft, flexible rubber weighing only one ounce, Grip Solid helps align the club in ideal position with soft fins along the Flex-Bar, which conforms to the taper of a player’s club providing instant feedback on grip pressure.

Las Vegas was the first show for the product, according to Katie Newman, co-owner of the California-based Pomp Productions LLC, which produces the item.  “We are thrilled with the great responses we received at Demo Night and the PGA Expo,” Newman said. “It is an honor to be recognized as an innovative training aid by industry professionals and be awarded as a top new product.”

Best New Product Winner at PGA ShowThe aid is available on the company’s website at www.gripsolid.com for $19.95. Newman said one size fits all. The aid is for right-hand players only. For a best fit, measure around the hand and start just below the knuckles of the right-handed players left hand — glove hand. If the measurement is 10 inches or less, should be fine.

The aid fits most men’s XS to XL standard gloves.

WE TRIED IT: Great for training players – especially high-handicappers – how to hold the club. Sounds basic, but it’s a common flaw of beginners, who strangle the club. Seasoned players can also benefit. Advanced players are always taking on bad habits. They think it’s their swing path, club position, etc. but it might simply be the position of the club in their hand is incorrect. This product re-positions the club to where it should be.
