Cauley leads early in Tour Finals event

American Bud Cauley quickly jumped into the lead at the Tour Finals opening-event at the Hotel Fitness Championship in Indiana.

Cauley is 5-under through six holes at Sycamore Hills Golf Club to lead in the early going. He is a shot ahead of Aussie Greg Chalmers. Former Masters champion Trevor Immelman, the defending champion at this event, is 2-under and T-4 at the moment.

Jason Gore, Chad Campbell and Steve Marino are among those under par and on the course.

  • The PGA Tour’s second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs tees off Friday with the Deutsche Bank Championship at TPC Boston. Hunter Mahan, Rory McIlroy and Jimmy Walker are the top three players in the standings.

  • Liberty National Golf Club, which host a FedEx Cup Playoff event last season in New Jersey, was selected to host the 2017 Presidents Cup.
  • Suzann Pettersen headlines the LPGA Tour field at the Portland Classic. Pettersen is the defending champion. Columbia Edgewater Country Club hosts the event.
