Second Round Preview – European Tour –Final Series – BMW Masters – Shanghai, China –
France’s Alexander Levy opened the European Tour’s Final Series with a 7-under-65 to secure the overnight lead at the BMW Masters.
The Final Series, a four-tournament series, concludes at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai Nov. 20-23 when the Race To Dubai champion will emerge.
Levy, who won two weeks ago at the weather-shortened Portugal Masters, opened with four straight birdies en route to a front-nine 31 at Lake Malaren Golf Club.
A 40-to-1 betting selection at www.skybet.com, Levy leads three players a shot including Nicolas Colsaerts. Graeme McDowell is T-5 after a 5-under-67, while Ryder Cup stars Thomas Bjorn and Jamie Donaldson are T-6.
Colsaerts was runner-up to Levy in Portugal and he finished T-4 at the Wales Open in September. For Levy, he won the Volvo China Open earlier this season as well.
Look for England’s Justin Rose to bounce back into contention. The highest-ranked player int he field at No. 6 in the Official World Golf Ranking, Rose was even par after round one and T-43.

- Sweden’s Rikard Karlberg led by two-strokes through round one of the CIMB Classic, a co-sanctioned event in Malaysia between the PGA Tour and Asian Tour. Karlberg, 220th in the world ranking, shot 7-under-65. He was 5th at the European Tour’s Maybank Malaysia Open earlier this year on this layout.
- Rolex Ranking No. 1 Inbee Park and Shanshan Feng co-lead the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship after 18 holes. Both carded bogey-free 64s in the opening round. Stacy Lewis was T-7 at 5-under, while Michelle Wie is four shots back.
- Tom Pernice Jr. (5-under) leads a host of players including Bernhard Langer, Kenny Perry and Jay Haas by a shot after the opening round of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship on the Champions Tour.
- Phil Mickelson, now 11th in the world ranking, and Callaway Golf extended their partnership.
