Final Round Preview – LPGA Tour –JTBC LPGA Founders Cup – Fireside Golf Club – Phoenix, Arizona –
The future of professional women’s golf may be on showcase Sunday in the final round of the JTBC LPGA Founders Cup in Phoenix.
Youngsters Lydia Ko (16-under) and Jessica Korda (15-under) are the featured final pairing but a host of proven players are within striking distance including Stacy Lewis and Paula Creamer (both T-10) and also World No. 1 Inbee Park (11-under and T-13).
Azahara Munoz and Michelle Wie are 13-under and T-5, while LPGA Tour rookie Mirim Lee sits 15-under and just a shot back. Lee was the 18- and 36-hole leader in Phoenix.
Ko, 4th in the Rolex Ranking, shot 5-under-67 in round three hitting 12 of 14 Fairways in Regulation and 14 of 18 Greens in Regulation. Just like Korda, Ko has two official LPGA Tour victories.
For Korda, she is third this season in the Race to CME Globe – season-long competition on the LPGA Tour. Korda won the opener this year in the Bahamas. Like Ko, she is looking for her first win on U.S. soil. She has back-to-back 66s and is bogey free since Thursday in Phoenix.
Scoring conditions will be favorable if the wind lies down. Munzo and Creamer both shot 64 Saturday and Cristie Kerr fired a 9-under-63.
Ko was a 20-to-1 betting pick at Skybet.com heading into this tournament. Korda was 45-1.
