First Round Update – PGA Tour – Hyundai Tournament of Champions – Kapalua

Patrick Reed opened the 2016 calendar PGA Tour season shooting 8-under-65 to capture the overnight lead in the Hyundai Tournament of Champions.
Reed, the defending champion at the annual event of last year’s winners, carded a back-nine 31 including 6-under during his last six holes. Maybe the hottest player in the world coming into Hawaii, Reed has six straight Top 10s worldwide including a pair of runner-up finishes.
World No. 1 Jordan Spieth is alone in second at 7-under.
J.B. Holmes, Danny Lee and Brandt Snedeker sit T-3 after 18 holes in Maui at the Plantation Course. A large group featuring Bubba Watson and Rickie Fowler shot 4-under and are T-7.
Jason Day, playing in his first stroke play event since the TOUR Championship, shot 3-under-70 at the par-73 layout.

- Keith Home and tournament favorite Branden Grace share the lead at the European Tour’s BMW South African Open when play was suspended during day two action. Home is in the clubhouse at 8-under through 36 holes, while Grace is 5-under through 11 holes on his round to reach 8-under overall.
- Reed was bogey-free on his opening round. He entered the week as a 10-to-1 betting selection at www.golfodds.com.
- The LPGA Tour tees off its 2016 season later this month at the Pure-Silk Bahamas LPGA Classic.
