Final Round — PGA Tour — Sanderson Farms Open Championship — Country Club of Jackson — Jackson, Mississippi —
Fresh off the Web.com Tour, Peter Malnati struck the jackpot in Jackson, Mississippi for his maiden tour victory securing the weather-delayed Sanderson Farms Championships.
Malnati (18-under) carded a 5-under-67 in the final round Monday — thanks for rain delays knocking out most of Saturday and Sunday. He edged William McGirt and 48-year-old David Toms by a shot.
Aaron Baddeley, Bryce Molder, Patton Kizzire and 36-hole leader Roberto Castro finished T-4 at 16-under. Castro, who opened 62-67, seemed most punished by the delays sliding back into the mix with a third-round 75.
Malnati opened the week at No. 350 in the Official World Golf Ranking. He quickly becomes the tour’s 5th first-time winner of the 2015-2016 wrap-around season.
The PGA Tour heads to Mexico this week for the OHL Classic at Mayakoba where Charley Hoffman is the defending champion.
