Brandt Snedeker’s final-round 69 ended up winning it at the PGA Tour’s Farmers Insurance Open.
Sneds finished up Sunday, then waiting during Monday’s conclusion as players kept struggling in the high winds off the Pacific Ocean. In the end, Sneds (6-under) was one of just a dozen players to end the week under par.
He edged K.J. Choi by a shot. It marked Choi’s second runner-up at Torrey in three seasons. Sneds, who was a 25-to-1 betting pick heading into the week, moved from 24th to 12th in the latest Official World Golf Ranking.
Branden Grace’s victory at the European Tour’s Qatar Masters helped him hold his position at No. 11 in the rankings.
Jordan Spieth, a runner-up finish on the Asian Tour last weekend, remained No. 1 in the world. Rory McIlroy replaced Jason Day in the No. 2 slot. Day missed the cut while trying to defend at Torrey Pines.

- Hyo-Joo Kim (18-under) outlasted Stacy Lewis for a two-shot win at the LPGA Tour’s season opener in the Bahamas. It was Kim’s third career LPGA Tour title. She has a victory now in 2014 (Evian Championship), 2015 (JTBC Founders) and 2016 on tour.
- Lewis locked up her 7th runner-up finish since the start of the 2015 season.
