Wie, Streelman rise in rankings after big wins

Michelle Wie’s U.S. Women’s Open triumph jumped her to No. 7 in the latest Rolex Rankings, while Kevin Streelman moved up 22 places to inside the Top 50 at 36th in the Official World Golf Ranking after his victory at the PGA Tour’s Travelers Championship.

For Wie, she moved into second place in the LPGA Tour’s Race to the CME Group tour championship event. She is just behind Rolex Ranking No. 1 Stacy Lewis in the standings. Lewis, who finished runner-up to Wie at Pinehurst No. 2, has 12 Top 10s in 14 starts this season.

Wie does lead the LPGA Tour Money List over Lewis by about $7,000.

The rest of the Rolex Ranking Top 5 after Lewis is Inbee Park, Lydia Ko, Suzann Pettersen and Lexi Thompson. Hall of Famer Karrie Webb is 6th just ahead of Wie.

On the men’s side, the Top 5 remained largely unchanged with Adam Scott on top followed by Henrik Stenson and Bubba Watson. An idle Tiger Woods slipped to No. 5 as Matt Kuchar moved to 4th. Woods, out from back surgery in late March, returns this week for just his 5th world wide start of 2014.

Jason Day moved up a spot to No. 6 in the rankings followed by Rory McIlroy, Sergio Garcia, Jordan Spieth and Justin Rose.
